After a poor start to the season, the Serbian Novak Djokovic is determined to turn things around in style. Just days before the French Open finally kicks in, the World No. 1 player will be going to the event as the defending champion. But right before the start, he wants to make sure that he gives his 100% and enters the Roland Garros as a clear favorite.

Thus, the Serbian superstar announced that he will be taking part in the upcoming ATP Geneva Open which is a 250 event. The draw, which was recently released, had some of the major names in the event. However, Novak Djokovic’s projected run to the finals was prepared and interestingly, in the bid to win the title, he could potentially lock horns against Ben Shelton in the final.

After getting a bye in the first round, he could either face rival Andy Murray or German tennis player Yannick Hanfmann. Should he manage to get past round 2, he could lock horns against the winner of Dutch tennis player Tallon Greikspoor or Canadian Denis Shapovalov in the quarter-finals. Then a semi-final win against either Taylor Fritz or Jack Draper would help him secure a spot in the final.

However, it is worth noting that Ben Shelton’s run in the final would eventually depend on his performances throughout the event. Should the Serbian manage to make his way into the finals, he could face either Ben Shelton or anyone amongst Casper Ruud or Sebastian Baez. Thus, ahead of his projected journey to the title triumph, he will have to tackle multiple roadblocks. Should he face Shelton in the final, it will also be a one-of-a-kind challenge for him.

Novak Djokovic and Ben Shelton have their own rivalry against each other

The Novak Djokovic and Ben Shelton rivalry will be remembered for ages. It was back at the US Open when Novak Djokovic, who was clearly a title contender locked horns against the rising star who made his way into the semi-finals of the tournament. While Djokovic managed to squeeze in the victory, it wasn’t the win that stole the headlines.

Shelton was famously known due to his dialed-in celebration that he did. What captured many people’s attention was the fact that Djokovic, after securing the win against the young American star imitated the same action. This stirred controversy among the tennis world as many came in and gave their opinion on the ongoing matter.
