The 2024 Miami Open is done with its first round and will start with its seeded players in the round of 64. We will see Alex Michelsen and Tallon Griekspoor battle against each other in the second round as both players aim to have better results in Miami. Both players will hope to perform their best and give the fans an entertaining clash.

A first-round loss to Ugo Humbert closed Michelsen’s stint in the Brisbane International after two qualifiers. A similar fate found him in the ASB Classic, with a turnaround in the Australian Open as he ran to the third round before losing to Alexander Zverev. In the Dallas Open, he would lose to Frances Tiafoe, and in Delray Beach, he lost to Tommy Paul, both in the second round.

He lost to Jordan Thompson in the quarter-final of the Los Cabos Open. In the Indian Wells Masters, he lost to Paul once again, this time in round 2. In the Miami Open, he managed to beat Lukas Klein by 7-6, 6-2 in the opening round.

Griekspoor’s 2024 began in the Australian Open, where he lost in the third round to Arthur Cazaux in straight sets. He followed it with a run to the semifinal of the ATP Rotterdam, losing 6-2, 6-4 to Jannik Sinner in the semifinal. He dropped out of the Qatar Open, then lost to Alexander Bublik in the Dubai Tennis Championships in round 2. 

Griekspoor would once again lose in the second round of a tournament, this time in the Indian Wells Masters, to Alexander Zverev in straight sets. The Dutch player will now play against Alex Michelsen in Miami.

Michelsen vs Griekspoor: Head-to-Head

Michelsen and Griekspoor will have a significant first at the Sunshine Double as they have never met on the ATP Tour. This marks the beginning of a possible new rivalry.
