The Miami Open is the second half of the Sunshine Doubles, and the tournament has provided us with some great action. The final stages have begun, and Jannik Sinner will play against Tomas Machac in the championship quarterfinal. Both players are coming off great wins in Miami and are aiming to extend their run in the championship.

Sinner previously had to leave Indian Wells Masters after his clash with Carlos Alcaraz and is hoping go all the way in the Vice City. Machac, on the other hand, left Indian Wells even earlier but has turned his form around.

Machac began 2024 with a second-round exit in the Brisbane International. He followed it with a first-round qualifier exit in Adelaide. In the Australian Open, Machac would eliminate Frances Tiafoe in round 2, 6-4, 6-4, 7-6. But Karen Khachanov would eliminate him in four sets in the following match. He beat Andy Murray in the Open 13 but lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the third round.

He would lose to Alexander Bublik after clearing two qualifiers in Dubai. In the Indian Wells Masters, Machac saw an early exit in the round against Adrian Mannarino. Miami is seeing great results for Machac, as he has only dropped one set in the tournament. He has triumphed over Andrey Rublev in straight sets, which he followed by eliminating Andy Murray. He beat Matteo Arnaldi in the round of 16 in straight sets.

Sinner has not contested in many tournaments in 2024. His run in the Australian Open bore him his first grand slam as he would bag his first win over Novak Djokovic in the semifinal, which would be followed by shutting down Daniil Medvedev in a rousing comeback. He would also go on to win the ATP Rotterdam, only dropping one set and beating Alex De Minaur in the final.

At the Indian Wells, Sinner did not lose a set till the semifinal before Carlos Alcaraz eliminated him 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinal. Miami had the Italian youngster win his first three clashes while only losing one set. Now, he will face Machac in hopes of reaching the final for the third time.

Machac and Sinner have never had the opportunity to test their skills against each other. Both players have found their way to each other for the first time in their tennis careers and will aim to be the victor of the bout. However, only one player can be the triumphant star, which means we will see both players go all out in the quarterfinal of the Miami Open.

Prediction: Sinner to end the clash in two sets

Machac is playing the best tennis of his life and is currently in the middle of his best-ever tournament. The 23-year-old has advanced to the Miami Open quarterfinals, which will elevate him to an approximate world ranking of No. 42 even if he loses. Unfortunately for the Czech, Sinner will stand on his path to reaching the semifinals. Sinner is 19-1 this season, with titles in Melbourne and Rotterdam, and his only loss is coming to Alcaraz.
