The ATP Moselle Open is the tournament that will close out the ATP Tour before the year-capping ATP Finals will be played. The tournament is held in Metz, France, and awards the winner with 250 points, giving them a slight boost over others. The first round of the tournament is in effect and will continue, including the bout between Dominic Thiem and Matteo Martineau.
Both players are currently lower than their best rankings and are hoping to win their clash to get enough points to help them climb back on the board. However, there will be only one victor who will get the chance to move forward. So how do the numbers stack up for each player?

Dominic Thiem vs Matteo Martineau: Preview
Thiem is currently ranked at 95 and is hoping to go far in the Moselle Open. He is not currently in great form, as he has not managed to go beyond round two in Slams and Masters. However, he has been playing well in the ATP 250 and 500 series. He beat Stan Wawrinka at the Paris Masters recently but was ousted by the defending champion Holger Rune in round 2. Thiem wants to get rid of the memory and get the momentum to bring him back to his slam-winning days.

Prediction: Thiem to win in straight sets
Both players are hoping to turn their season around as they step into the Moselle Open. While Martineau might be the local favorite, the victory will probably fall in the lap of Thiem. He will have to fight for it, but if he plays with his usual panache, he is bound to win the match in straight sets. The French player is likely to go home with the experience of a loss against a seasoned player.
