Fabio Fognini vs Lorenzo Sonego: Preview
Fognini is in the twilight of his career. The 26-year-old Italian has played against the giants of the ATP during his prime, but he has not managed to keep up with the pace of men’s tennis anymore. However, he has made no plans to retire. He still plays in slams and Masters and has gone as far as round 3 in both this year.
He has also competed in the ATP Challenger series this year, with the final in Genoa as his best result so far. Fognini comes off a fantastic win against Alexander Bublik in three sets, a hard-fought battle where no player wanted to relent.
Elsewhere, Sonego is on a fairly similar track to his Italian compatriot. He has only competed on the ATP Tour this year. His best results in slams and Masters have been round four this year. He steps into the Moselle Open as the defending champion. He has also achieved his fifth and sixth win against Top 10 players this year. At the moment, he has the advantage of being the defending champion, giving him a slight boost in confidence.

Prediction: Sonego to take the win in three sets
Given their current momentum, Sonego is the one who has a better chance of winning the match. While Fognini is coming off a massive win, Sonego has not won any of his bouts easily. Both players will have a fantastic bout, and they will fight to be the one to move on to the quarterfinal. However, the younger Italian player is the one who has a better chance of emerging victorious.
