When it comes to the Paris Masters, Novak Djokovic had his fair share of highs and lows in the tournament. In the first match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the Serbian did not face any trouble making sure to cruise past victory in a straight-set win. The final scoreline of the match ended 6-3, 6-2 in favor of the Serbian.

However, in the round of 16 match against Tallon Greikspoor, the Serbian had to pull in some extra efforts. After losing in the first set, he had to battle it hard to win the second set. But when it came to the third and the final set, the Djoker unleashed his true strengths and ensured to take the victory home. The final scoreline of the match ended 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in favor of the number 1 player.

On the other hand, his upcoming opponent, Holger Rune also had a fair run so far at the ATP Paris Masters. Having faced Dominic Thiem in the first round, the Danish player cruised past his opponent with an easy straight-set win. The final scoreline of the match was 6-4, 6-2. In the next round, he faced a tough task of Daniel Altmaier. However, Rune made things look easy as he defeated the German with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3. Looking to carry his dominant run, he would be willing to make it as far as he can.

Novak Djokovic vs Holger Rune: Head-to-head

Interestingly, Holger Rune is only one of the few players who have a lead over the mighty Novak Djokovic in the head-to-head encounter. Out of the 3 matches that the two have played so far, Rune has prevailed victorious on 2 occasions while losing out just once. The only defeat that he tasted was back at the US Open in 2021 which was also their first encounter. A stubborn Djokovic laid his hands on victory in straight sets and defeated Rune with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1.

On the other hand, their recent encounter came back at the ATP Rome Masters earlier this year. In an intriguing encounter, the young Danish player secured an easy win over Djokovic and defeated him with a scoreline of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

Prediction: Novak Djokovic could win the evenly contested encounter

It is very hard to predict a winner in this encounter. Considering the way both these players have been playing so far, either of them poses a fair chance of making it through to the next round. The way Novak Djokovic has played in recent months suggests that he could be a force to be reckoned with in the match.

However, with the Serbian suggesting that he was facing some problems with his stomach in his round of 16 match, Rune could use it to his advantage and make sure to turn things around and strengthen his lead in the head-to-head records.
