It is the ATP Paris Masters and the stage is all set for an emphatic showdown as some of the best players in the world go head-to-head against each other. Coming into the tournament as one of the strongest contestants, Hubert Hurkacz will look to make it as far as he can in his quest for title glory.

However, standing in his way in the first round will be none other than the upcoming American sensation Sebastian Korda. The American is also in good form and could give some tough competition to the Polish player. That being said, who amongst the two poses a higher chance of making it through to the next round here in Paris?

The Polish player, who recently came off victorious at the Shanghai Masters also managed to make his way into the finals at the recently concluded Swiss Indoors Cup. Not only this, but some noteworthy performances by him this year include a semi-final appearance at the Cincinnati Masters and the Stuttgart Open.

Coming into the tournament with great form, he is also considered by many to be one of the top competitors for the title. On the other hand, his opponent Sebastian Korda will be coming into the tournament as 26th seeded player. With consecutive final appearances at the Zhuhai Championship and the Astana Open, he made a semi-final appearance at the Shanghai Masters.

However, apart from this, some of his noteworthy performances from this year include a semi-final appearance at the Queen’s Club Championship and a fourth-round appearance at the Australian Open. With a chance to carry forward the momentum, he would be willing to do whatever it takes to get past his opponent.

Korda vs Hurkacz: Head-to-head

Interestingly, these two have faced each other a total of 3 times, out of which Hubert Hurkacz has the slightest advantage. With 2 wins, he leads the head-to-head charts. Their first encounter came back in 2021 when they faced each other at Delray Beach in Florida. In a completely one-sided match, it was Hurkacz who won with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3.

On the other hand, their most recent encounter came at the ATP Shanghai Masters. However, this time around as well, the result was the same with Hurkacz winning 6-3, 6-4. The only time when Korda won was back at the Australian Open where he defeated Hurkacz 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 in an evenly tight encounter.

Prediction: Hurkacz to land an easy win against Korda

After being in a hot run of form in the recent few weeks, it can be safe to say that Hubert Hurkacz is in a sweet spot to land the victory and clinch his seat into the next round. His H2H record surely gives him a mental advantage as well. Not only this, he would love to contest for the title glory and want to announce his arrival in style.
