There’s barely a chance that any tennis fans wouldn’t like the amazing one-handed backhand. A skill possessed by timeless legends like Rod Laver, John McEnroe, and a handful more, the remarkable shot has been as rare as beautiful it is. Among the ones who performed this drill on the court, the One-Handed Backhand group including Roger Federer, Grigor Dimitrov, and Tommy Haas, was one trio that came together because of the possession of this skill.

The fans had to face a huge disappointment when Grigor Dimitrov exited the top 10 rankings. While Stefanos Tsitsipas was the lone ranger holding the flag, it is now time that he bids farewell to the top position, making it the first time in the history of tennis that no player in the list of top 10 will fascinate the fans with a representation of the amazing one-handed backhand.

Looking at the women’s side, Tatiana Maria holds the highest rank at No. 50, relying mostly on her one-handed backhand. While the WTA side was already lacking the skill, it is now time that the ATP bids goodbye to it from the top rankings.

Remembering the era ruled by the tunes of the ‘one-handed backhand boys’

Remember when tennis superstar Roger Federer teamed up with his friends Grigor Dimitrov and Tommy Haas to form a boy band? It was all in good fun, but they actually recorded a song together, giving fans delight with their musical skills. While the common thing that united them was the possession of the one-handed backhand, they named the group the One-handed Backhand Boys.

They united to record the fun song in a proper studio after some practice. While they pursued this fun gig under the guidance of none other than Grammy Award-winning music producer David Foster, who also happens to be Tommy Haas’ father-in-law, they left an amazing impression on the minds of the fans. This amazing union not only gave fans a fun moment to witness and forget but also made a space in their long-term memory, especially now that the amazing skill is about to be extinct.
