The ninth and final Masters 1000 event of the 2023 season is ready to take place. As the 14th-ranked tennis player has lacked a little motivation since the US Open, his recent cold spell has kept him out of the Nitto ATP Finals race, even if he wins the Paris Masters. After facing a quarter-final defeat from Ben Shelton at the American Grand Slam, he has just won three matches in the last nine, including this one itself.

Among the three victories, one of them came at the Laver Cup. But now, after facing another quarter-final exit from the ATP Vienna Open, he is ready to give his 100% to end the year on a good note. He also won the first round last week by retirement, and then she had a really tough time with Gael Monfils. Despite that, he lost in the quarterfinals to the tournament’s eventual champion, Jannik Sinner.

Subsequently, earlier this year in Tokyo and Shanghai, he faced a first-round defeat. On the other hand, the 26-year-old won his third ATP title this year at the European Open. The 30th-seeded tennis player might consider ending the year with another ATP victory in his pocket. He also fell in the opening round in Basel this week from Casper Ruud. Now let’s see what their head-to-head record has in store for the thrilling match.

Frances Tiafoe vs Alexander Bublik: Head-to-head

The two tennis players have faced each other a total of three times in their careers. Tiafoe has won two out of these meetings, including the last one that took place in the third round at Wimbledon last year with the final scoreline reading 3-6, 7-6(1), 7-6(3), and 6-4.

Another victory for the American came nearly 4 years ago when he won a hard-court clash in Washington, DC. The only victory that Bublik holds over Tiafoe came last year at Eastbourne, Great Britain, where the Kazakh inched out the match from one set down.

Prediction: Tiafoe to lay his hands in the first-round victory

Both being baseliners, Tiafoe and Bublik have similar styles of play: huge serves and strong hitting from the flank. However, Tiafoe’s expertise on the court, particularly on hard courts, and his slightly better consistency will be major factors in play. The American will be looking to secure a comfortable finish and setting his pace from the word ‘go’.

Furthermore, Tiafoe’s record against his Kazakh opponent in their head-to-head match amply demonstrates his dominance. The thirty-first seed, though, is not going to give his opponent an easy ride. Just like their last few encounters, he will give it his all, ensuring a tough fight on the court. He will give it his all and make sure to put up a fierce fight on the court, just as in their previous few meetings.
