The ATP Rotterdam Open is the first ATP 500 event of the year and has been played since 1972. ATP stars rise each year to take the glory in the Netherlands, and this year is no different. The first semifinal of the 2024 edition will be played between Grigor Dimitrov and Alex de Minaur. Victory will give them a chance to lift the title for the first time in their careers.
If de Minaur wins, he will be the first Australian finalist since 2004. If Dimitrov were to reach the final, he would have a second chance to win the championship.

Alex de Minaur vs Grigor Dimitrov: Preview
De Minaur did not have a great time in 2023. The start of the season and the end of the season were more or less similar for him, besides a run to the finals in the Canadian Open. He has had much better luck in the ATP 250 and 500 series in his career and had a similar run in 2024. He won the Mexican Open in 2023 and managed to reach the final of the Queen’s Club Championship and the Los Cabos Open.
In 2024, de Minaur began his stint in the Australian Open as the local favorite. He showed great results in the first three rounds of the tournament, even managing a bagel. He was also on the winning path in the fourth round against Andrey Rublev, but the Russian managed to catch his second wind and end his stint. In the Rotterdam Open, he managed to reach the semifinals by only dropping one set against Rublev.
Grigor Dimitrov has not had much luck since he won the 2017 Cincinnati Masters. He couldn’t go further than round 4 in grand slams in 2023 and managed to reach the final of the Geneva Open and the Paris Masters after fighting for 5 years. He broke his streak of bad luck in 2024 and won the Brisbane International, his first title since 2017.

He followed it with a two-round win in the Australian Open and once again reached the final in the Open 13. In the Rotterdam Open, he won the first three rounds by dropping a set and has a chance to reach the final once again.

Prediction: Dimitrov to be the victor
De Minaur and Dimitrov did not have a much different run in 2023, but their momentum in 2024 will make the difference. Dimitrov comes into the tournament with much better confidence and has a higher chance of taking the win to have another shot at the title. However, it would not be an easy challenge, as de Minaur will certainly not relent.
