One of the most renowned tournaments of the season, the Swiss Indoors Basel, has entered its business end. Yesterday, we saw some high-intensity action in the quarterfinals of the tournament, featuring the likes of Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz. Fans witnessed some amazing tennis on the indoor hard courts of Basel. Now, in the semifinals, Holger Rune takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime in what promises to be an exciting contest.

However, he has come back strongly to make it to the last four in Basel. He started his campaign in Basel with a hard-fought win over Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia.

Subsequently, he had an easy, straight-set win over Sebastian Baez in the second round. His quarterfinal victory over Tomas Martin Etcheverry was a nerve-wracking one. Rune held his calm to eventually prevail in three sets: 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (6).

Like Rune, Felix has had a similar run in Basel. While he started the tournament with a bang, with easy straight-set victories in the first two rounds, he had to dig deep in his quarterfinal match against Alexander Shevchenko. That match went the distance, lasting over two and a half hours as the Canadian prevailed 7-6 (2), 3-6, 7-6 (1).

Rune vs. Felix: Head-to-Head

As the two are preparing for the semifinals of the Swiss Indoors, they will probably revisit some of their past bouts. The duo has been involved against each other thrice in tournaments over the years. Rune leads the head-to-head battle against Felix 2-1 with all their matches completing in two sets.

Their latest meeting came recently in the round of 32 in Beijing. In that match, Rune prevailed in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Thus, he will be a strong favorite going into the match in Basel.

Prediction: Rune to win in straight sets

While Felix has had a resurgence of sorts in this tournament, his run will potentially come to an end against Rune. It is expected that the Danish sensation will overcome the challenge of Felix in straight sets in the semifinals of the Swiss Indoors. It is difficult to stop Rune when he’s at his best and he has shown some top form during this event.
