Moroccan tennis icon Younes Rachidi received a lifetime ban from ITIA after he was proven guilty of match-fixing. The extent of Rachidi’s misdemeanor has left the tennis world stunned, to say the least. Besides the ban, Rachidi is also charged with a heavy fine for his actions. Along with him, two other Algerian players have also faced similar penalties for their association with the former Moroccan tennis player.

Younes Rachidi shocks the tennis realm with 135 match fixing charges!

Younes Rachidi has been found guilty of fixing a record 135 matches. This is the most by a single individual, according to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

An independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer found all charges against Younes Rachidi to be proven. He described the breaches as “egregious” underscoring the seriousness of the situation. The imposition of a fine of $34,000 in addition to the life ban further emphasizes the severity of the offense.

As per the ITIA statement, reported by Italy 24 News, “The case was ruled on by independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer Janie Soubliere who found all charges proved, the 135 breaches ‘egregious’ and imposed a fine of $34,000 in addition to the life ban.” (Google Translate)

Rachidi had a career-high ranking of 473 in ATP doubles. It will be disheartening for his fans, especially in his home country, to see that he will be incapable of being associated with the sport in any measure from now on.

Other players who also faced a ban for their involvement with Rachidi

He was also involved with two Algerian players and has fixed matches with them, as per the reports. Mohamed Hassan faces a lifetime ban, the same as Rachidi. Whereas Houria Boukholda is suspended for two years from the court. The ITIA has also imposed heavy financial penalties on all three players with Rachidi’s at a whopping $34,000.
