The recently released horror film, ‘The Pope’s Exorcist’, has already captivated the audience. Russell Crowe, the Oscar-winning star, is also part of the cast playing the protagonist’s role, Father Gabriele Amorth. Speaking about the shooting of the movie, the 59-year-old actor said the entire crew had to deal with a lot of darkness surrounding the sets. However, they added a totally “opposite” activity to their schedules that helped them a lot. Surprisingly, it was the sport of tennis that turned out to be an important part of the crew’s regular schedule.

Russell Crowe opens up about playing tennis with the cast of his latest movie
In addition to having a fantastic talent for acting, the Australian actor has been an avid tennis fan, and has been often spotted on the celebrity box during important matches. The 59-year-old actor is also a huge fan of the Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer, as witnessed by his social media posts. A few seasons back, when the former tennis ace clinched the Australian Open title, Russell Crowe expressed his delight on Twitter.

Being a devoted tennis fan, the Oscar winner has somehow managed to make time for his favorite sport, even during the shooting of his recently released horror film. Speaking about his move in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Crowe opened up about how the cast had to travel to various locations around the globe.

He was in good company, as the whole cast was very amicable during the shoot. Crowe said they had to look after each other as they were traveling to various weird and dark places. Meanwhile, it was the sport of tennis that really helped them to deal with the darkness surrounding the shooting of the horror movie.

The season’s first Grand Slam event saw some celebrity figures in the stands of the Rod Laver Arena. Being an avid tennis fan, the legendary Australian actor was also there for the finals of the tournament taking place in his home country.
Crowe was spotted alongside his girlfriend, Britney Theriot, as the couple witnessed the intense final between the WTA superstars, Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka. However, the Gladiator star looked a bit disappointed as he was rooting for the Kazakhstan tennis star who got outclassed by her opponent.
