There have been many instances in sports where players retire and then turn to coaching. However, cases where active players become coaches, are extremely rare. Nick Kyrgios is one player who is active but has been on a hiatus due to consecutive injuries. But the Aussie has donned the role of coach for Frances Tiafoe for an American tournament. He recently teased their partnership on his Instagram page.

The new role of the two players was first announced on 20th July. While the Aussie has been absent due to injury and recovery, he decided to interact with a sport in a different manner.

Nick Kyrgios teases new role with Frances Tiafoe

Kyrgios is one player who always seems to spark a debate. Whether due to his opinions or due to his antics on and off the court, Kyrgios’ actions tend to split tennis fans as they discuss right and wrong. But the argument is not only limited to fans as even media outlets take their shot at Kyrgios. However, he is trending at the moment, surprisingly, without causing a possible controversy.

The tennis bad boy has taken on a new role with a close friend. He will coach Frances Tiafoe for the Ultimate Tennis Showdown. The effects of his advice will be seen when Tiafoe faces Gael Monfils. Kyrgios teased the partnership on his Instagram story, which constituted an image of him giving a high five to a fan. Along with the image, he added the caption, “You ready for the Foe & Kygs connection?“.

Kyrgios joins Serena Williams’ former coach to change the tennis convention

The new season of UTS was first announced by Patrick Mouratoglou, former coach of Serena Williams, early in May. This would mark the first UTS, which would feature Kyrgios, Taylor Fritz, and Ben Shelton. Kyrgios did everything in his power to hype up the tournament as much as he could. Unfortunately, the Aussie underwent another injury and had to withdraw from the league. But he found a way to participate through Tiafoe.
