The Barcelona Open is here, and the action of the clay court is set to intensify further. The championship has pit Matteo Arnaldi and Arthur Cazaux in the round of 64. Arnaldi and Cazaux are set to go deeper in the clay swing. There is a lot of talent that will aim to overcome the competition at the Barcelona Open, and Arnaldi and Cazaux will show a glimpse of it.

Arnaldi and Cazaux have not fared well in the last few months in the main draw of the ATP Tour. The two have had to battle for their wins and will do so once again in their match.

Arnaldi could not manage more than two wins since 2024 began. He caught a break in the Miami Open as he ran to the round of 16, eventually being ousted by Tomas Machac. He unfortunately went back to track in the Monte Carlo Masters, where he lost to Sumit Nagal in three sets. 6 double faults neutralized the advantage he had after 6 aces. A 68% win on first serve couldn’t help him overcome the challenge of Nagal, who handed him another first-round exit.

Cazaux showed promise in the Australian Open, where he beat Holger Rune and Tallon Griekspoor but lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round. Following the tournament, he only qualified for the main draw of the Open Sud De France and Dubai Tennis Championships. In the Miami Open, he collapsed during the first qualifier due to the heat, which was followed by a withdrawal from Monte-Carlo. The picture is not good for Cazaux, as he has returned to tournaments after almost a month.

Arnaldi vs Cazaux: Head-to-Head

Arnaldi and Cazaux will be a part of the first-ever as they aim to beat the other player in their opening round in Barcelona. They will try many strategies before settling on one as they realize what will stick to their opponent that day. However, both players have starkly different favorite surfaces, which tips the balance in favor of one.

Prediction: Arnaldi to take the win in the city of counts

While both players have been struggling, Arnaldi has the better form to win their eventual clash. Although he hasn’t had a good run in any tournament this year, he has managed a steady stream of wins, which are bound to increase his confidence. Arnaldi’s favorite surface is also clay, which gives him another advantage over the Frenchman.

Cazaux has failed to show up this year. He has been absent from the Tour for close to a month, which also means he will need some time to adapt to the pressure of tournaments. He might be able to win if he has significantly improved his tennis and mental abilities in the last month, which is unlikely. The player to move ahead will be the Italian, but it can be a good contest.
