Novak Djokovic had one of his best years in 2023. The Serbinator became the holder of many records and broke the barriers of the sport. However, his achievements still eluded him a prestigious BBC award, which is given to the best sports personality outside of Britain. Watching their favorite star being snubbed, fans of the Djoker were unable to control their anger and ripped apart the British network for not even including him in the top three.

Djokovic has the most active fan base when it comes to online presence. The Serb has a dedicated set of fans who will fight for him against all odds. Consequently, watching their idol be dismissed was not something BBC could get away with.

One of the commenters vehemently showcased their perception of the BBC.

A fan of Djoker said that the network was a part of the establishment that aims to downplay Djokovic’s significance and that they would never give him an award.

A user brought in the mention of Roger Federer, saying that he would win it if he were still an active player.

One of the fans went on a lengthy tirade as they wrote that it was ‘bigotry’ from the end of the BBC.

Stating a negative comment or snubbing Djokovic in any area is akin to going to war with his fans. Tennis followers can see it in this instance, and they could also see it when he was ignored when the ATP gave out the Sportsmanship of the Year award.
