The lively banter between tennis couple Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur is always a delight to watch. Beyond syncing their schedules to share the same time zone, social media lets them showcase their playful bond with fans. Whether it’s a heart under each other’s photos or witty comebacks, their fun exchanges are fan favorites—they won them the 2024 ATP Socials ‘Couple Goals.’ For instance, after a blackout canceled the Madrid Open for a day, Boulter joked on his Instagram, “Imagine blaming a country blackout for not texting me back all day. Elite 🚩 behavior.” Now, with both players in the same time zone, what witty moment will they bring?

Currently, the Aussie and Briton are gearing up for their second Grand Slam appearance at the 2025 French Open. Both start their campaigns Sunday, May 25, on the ATP and WTA sides, respectively—at the same time! But before diving into the Grand Slam grind, the couple took a charming trip around Paris.

On Friday, Boulter posted a stunning photo of herself at a restaurant on Instagram, captioned, “Where ever she goes Italy goes with her 🍕.” But did you spot what’s missing? De Minaur did. In his signature humor, he called her out for not crediting the photographer, replying, “No tag for the photographer… that’s tough…. 😢.” Believe it or not, the couple often sparks playful debates over photography.

Just earlier this month in Rome, Katie shared a delightful Instagram carousel from their Italian escape. It began with her posing by a picturesque Roman bridge, followed by stunning city views, a clay court snap, a cozy restaurant scene, and a happy cycling shot, and ended with the two strolling hand-in-hand through Rome’s charming streets. The photos radiated warmth and genuine connection. The real highlight? Alex’s cheeky comment: “I thought I was not a good photographer….👀.” That’s where the banter really took off.

The couple banters as much online as they do on the court. Take their mixed doubles Tie Break Tens exhibition match at the Indian Wells Open, which they lost. Katie posted on IG, “Fun night at @tiebreaktens even though we lost… I guess I’ll keep him 😂.” De Minaur fired back with his classic humor, joking, “Here goes the wedding budget… 😭 😭 😭.” Despite the jokes, the couple remains firm in their priorities together.

Boulter opens up about her relationship with Alex de Minaur

The couple has been together since 2020, and they announced their engagement at the end of the 2024 season. For much of the year, that remained the hot topic in interviews, considering how long they’d been together. But in 2023, Katie had already emphasized their shared focus: “We’re on the same wavelength when it comes to our priorities, tennis is where we want to be and the rest will follow.”

What’s your perspective on:

Does their playful banter make Boulter and de Minaur the ultimate tennis power couple?

De Minaur has spoken openly about how Katie inspires him to raise his game. Their unique connection comes from understanding the emotional highs and lows of professional tennis. “I’ve always thought she’s such a high-quality player, and it’s been amazing and great to see how she’s developed,” he said. “She’s got that self-belief and what she’s been able to accomplish. The way she’s been handling the spotlight, the pressures, it’s been pretty astounding to me. You know, now it’s probably my turn to start learning from her.”

Despite the respect and admiration, Alex still enjoys a bit of playful teasing. On May 16, while Katie was competing at the Trophée Clarins 125K series in Paris, she celebrated reaching the semifinals after defeating French qualifier Elsa Jacquemot 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. She wrote, “Me and this red stuff are very very slowly becoming friends 🤝.” Alex responded with a lighthearted jab: “Ohhhhhh Fwwwwwieeeeeeends.”

Now, as they prepare for their opening matches at Roland Garros—Alex against Laslo Djere and Katie facing Carole Monnet— it’s exciting to see how far this dynamic couple will advance. Will they deliver strong performances on the court and continue to share their charming banter off it? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
