Andy Murray is one of the best active tennis players today. The British tennis star used to be a consistent performer. And people even added him to the league of big 3, making it the big 4. However, his career changed drastically after sustaining an injury as the Brit is yet to gain his form back. Murray, who recently turned 35, had earlier pulled out of the ongoing French Open to focus on the Wimbledon later this year.

Notably, in a sad turn of events last week, an 18-year-old gunman attacked a Texas school which left 19 children and two teachers dead. Speaking of the incident, Murray gave his reaction to the highly debated topic of gun control in the United States.

Speaking about the incident, Murray recalled a similar thing that happened to his own school back in 1996. And hence, could relate to the terrifying situation the poor kids would have gone through. The 35 years old said that it is sad to see that such incidents keep happening and there’s nothing being done about it.

“I think there’s been over 200 mass shootings in America this year and nothing changes. I can’t understand that. My feeling is that surely at some stage you do something different. You can’t keep approaching the problem by buying more guns and having more guns in the country. I don’t see how that solves it.” He said.

Further, he added that he might be wrong, but something definitely needs to be done to stop this kind of incident. “But I could be wrong. Let’s maybe try something different and see if you get a different outcome.”

Murray eying the Wimbledon 2022 title

The 35 years old decided to skip the ongoing French Open to regain full fitness for the upcoming grass-court season. Notably, the former world number 1 has been most successful on the grass surface. He has won two Wimbledon titles. Also, his gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics came on the grass surface.

Although the two-times Wimbledon champion has not been in the best of his form, the much-needed break from the tour might help him regain some fitness and confidence.
