Another player with injury issues in recent past, 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer has been absent for nearly a year from competitive action.

Andy Murray hopes to face Federer again

The two former No.1s have played in big Grand Slam finals in the past. In an interview with Eurosport, the Brit spoke about his will to face the Swiss maestro. He said, “I would love to see Roger back playing again,” Murray told ATP.

“It’s always difficult to know when the end is. Obviously, people have been talking about it for many years. The next generation have come through, [but] the same guys are still winning the Grand Slams and I’d love to see Roger back competing again.”

“I don’t know his situation, but I believe he will get back to competing. I don’t know how long for, but I really hope we can play another tournament together. It’s been a long time,” he concluded.

Murray’s return to Tour

The former Olympic gold medalist has suffered towards the latter part of his career with injuries. After undergoing two hip operations, Murray has returned to singles action but managed to win a solitary title in Antwerp in 2017.

However, he has produced high quality tennis this year, even beating young stars like Canadian Dennis Shapovalov. The grass season would bring in excitement for the Scotsman, who has won at the All England Club in 2013 and 2016.
