Has Ben Shelton started a chain reaction of signing the camera? After defeating Marcos Giron in the Semi-final of the Japan Open, the twenty-one-year-old signed a strong message on the camera. This action was then copied by Arthur Fils, as he signed the camera after winning the Semi-final of the European Open against Stefanos Tsitsipas. After winning his first ATP title in Tokyo, Shelton continued the camera-signing game. However, this time, Shelton left a personalized message for Fils.

Ben Shelton defeated Arthur Fils in the Laver Cup earlier this year in Canada. Even though these players are separated by a huge distance at the moment, they stay united through this new trend. In Shelton’s initial message, he used two words to showcase his approach to the game. By copying the message, Arthur Fils wants the world to know that he isn’t any less. The second targeted message by Shelton is all the more interesting as he puts forward a challenge.

Increasing the intensity of this friendly back-and-forth, Ben Shelton has introduced something new. By winning the Japan Open, Shelton proved the worthiness of his first comment. His second comment on the camera is made to test the worthiness of Fils’ words. Perhaps through this challenge, Shelton is hoping to make his next face-off with Fils more riveting. Arthur Fils knows what’s going on, and he is hoping to win Shelton’s challenge and sign his victory message.

The first comment by Ben Shelton purely displayed his confidence. He wrote, “humble and hungry.” Shelton is hungry to take down more opponents and plans to be grounded. Winning the final match of the Japan Open satisfied a minor portion of his hunger. Arthur Fils who copied Shelton now has a new level to cross. In the second comment, Shelton wrote, “Show me something Arthur.” Shelton has invited Fils to bring on his top game and win the final match of the European Open against Alexander Bublik.
