Recently, in a podcast, Tomic was asked about the budding rivalry with Kyrgios.
Tomic said, “For sure (I can beat him), don’t get me wrong, Nick is really good, one of the top five-six servers in the world. But just the sort of style he plays is I don’t mind. I’ve got a great record against guys like Kevin Anderson, who was three in the world, finals of Wimbledon, probably in the US Open about four years ago.”
Tomic went on to name other athletes on the ATP Tour who are known for their strong serves like Sam Querrey and Ivo Karlovic.
Talking about getting past Nick, he said, “So those sorts of styles of play really don’t bother me. And I’ve played Nick many many times so becomes just comfortable once you get used to where he serves at, it’s a lot easier. “

Nick and Bernard have only faced each other in exhibition matches where Bernard has gotten the better of his Australian counterpart. A match between the two would certainly turn heads.
On a positive note, Nick Kyrgios will soon be making his tour comeback at the ATP 250 in Melbourne. This will be his first competition since Laver Cup 2021.
