In a recent Instagram video, the former coach of Serena Williams, Patrick Mouratoglou, went ahead and made a comparison between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner’s rapid growth in tennis skills is narrowing the difference between him and Alcaraz. Coach Mouratoglou noticed Sinner’s huge improvements in drop shots and net play, making him more versatile. This could make Sinner even better than Alcaraz, changing expectations for the next season.

Recently, Sinner’s form has been much better than Alcaraz’s. This has surprised many who thought Alcaraz would be a top challenger. With the way that Sinner has improved throughout the year, Mouratoglou has started to think that he could pose some serious threats to Novak Djokovic going into the next season.

“I think Jannik with what he has done at the end of 2023 will be 100% ready to perform at the highest level. It’s true that Carlos is a few steps ahead compared to Jannik because he won 2 Grand Slams, he has been number one he had so much more tools very came to the tour when he started to play, he could do anything,” said Mouratoglou.

“Jannik, when he came on tour and started to win a lot, he had a game that was based on his number one quality which is staying close to the baseline, hitting the ball early playing very fast and the last two or three years I think that Jannik developed a lot of other things. Now, he is dropshotting much more. He had to adapt to a lot of situations. With the confidence of the last month, I see him playing better and stronger than Carlos next year,” he further continued.

Thus, these comments made by Patrick Mouratoglou shed light on who among these two stars will be the favorite going into next year. While the season started better for Alcaraz, it ended better for Jannik Sinner.

However, not everyone thinks this way. Famous tennis star Cameron Norrie, in a recent interview, came ahead and shared his opinion on the rising rivalry between two young stars of the game. However, as compared to Patrick Mouratoglou, he had a completely different opinion.

Cameron Norrie believes Alcaraz could stun everyone next year, including Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner

In the interview, Norrie suggested that as things stand, Carlos Alcaraz could come back stronger and stun the likes of Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner while landing his hands on major silverware. While suggesting his claim, he said that Alcaraz is more of a complete player than Sinner, who has a better movement on the court and a variety of shots to play.

Norrie went ahead to add that Sinner, on the other hand, falls short when it comes to this. Thus, Alcaraz stands a better chance to lay his hands on glory next year. While Patrick Mouratoglou has suggested Sinner to shine next year, Norrie believes that Alcaraz has a strong hand over his Italian opponent.

One take at a time

In a world where player rivalries dominate social media conversations, I am someone who prefers to enjoy the skills showcased on the court rather than be involved in feuds over the greatness of players. Right from my early childhood, I have been engrossed by the legendary rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It turned me into a ?Fedal? fan and eventually, when I graduated from college, this fandom created an interest in covering their exploits on the court.
