Is there anything Roger Federer cannot do? After establishing himself as a legendary figure in the tennis community, the Swiss maestro has now ventured into the realms of business while diligently keeping up with different endeavors. And in his most recent collaboration with a $63 million American brand, the 20-time singles Grand Slam champion came up with a unique idea, fusing his remarkable tennis legacy with a stylized eyewear collection.
Federer has recently partnered with luxury brand ‘Oliver Peoples’ to launch a high-performance eyewear collection that provides comfort and stability. The RF x Oliver Peoples collection introduces elements of the former Swiss tennis player’s legacy on the grass courts of the Wimbledon Championships, where he won eight titles during his competitive journey. The number 8 plaque denotes his major triumphs at the grass Grand Slam event and also his birth date, Aug 8, 1981.
There is a custom core-wire pattern and an octagonal RF metal logo, inspired by Federer’s vintage tennis rackets. The collection also features ‘Mr. Federer’ sunshades and optical glass frame designs, which the Swiss icon wore himself at The Met Gala while co-hosting. Speaking on its design, he said, “This shape is what I wore to The Met Gala, and I wanted to find a way to incorporate it into the collection but in a more sporty way.”
