The Spaniard went on to beat Thiem in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. The match lasted just under an hour and a half, with Nadal putting on a dominant display. It looked as if Nadal had never been away from the sport. The former World Number 1 will look to repeat that performance against Kubler.
On the other hand, Kubler had a contrasting victory. His match against Karatsev was a tight contest. In what was an upset, Kubler defeated the eighth seed after Karatsev retired, with the score reading 6-4, 6-7 (4).
Nadal vs. Kubler: Head-to-Head
Both Nadal and Kubler have been awarded wildcards to participate in the Brisbane International. Interestingly, the two have never faced off against each other, with a fresh battle on the cards. However, this is Kubler’s home turf and there might be a surprise element from him that could be added when he faces Nadal.

Although Kubler has been on the tour for quite some time now, his ranking seldom allows him to participate in big tournaments. Moreover, Nadal had been away due to injuries. As a result, Kubler hasn’t got a chance to play against Nadal.
Prediction: Easy victory for Nadal
Given Nadal’s form and confidence, it is very difficult to stop him. Moreover, Kubler’s inexperience will further affect him against Nadal. Thus, Nadal will potentially prevail in straight sets against Kubler.
