Novak Djokovic has defied expectations. Even after being 36 years old, the Serbian sensation does not look like he’s going to stop as he edges closer to glory once again. Currently playing in the US Open, he has entered the tournament’s semi-finals where he’ll face Ben Shelton. Should he win the title, he will etch his name in the history books as he will be claiming his 24th grand slam title of his career. However, by speaking about his chances of winning, Djoker’s former rival and 5-time US Open champion Roger Federer sparked a fiery debate on social media.

In a recent tweet by Eurosport, it was seen that Roger Federer made a comment where he stated Novak Djokovic is the favorite to win the US Open. “I would bet on Novak Djokovic. That’s a safe bet,” said the Swiss Maestro. However, it seems that the Djoker’s fans did not like Roger’s comments as they bashed him after many believed that he jinxed their favorite star’s chances of winning.

“He keeps jinxing Novak,” said a fan, while expressing his frustration with the remarks made by the Swiss legend.

Another fan went ahead and was shocked by the choice made by Roger Federer claiming it to be a far-from-safe bet. “It is far from a safe bet… surprised Federer said this tbh,” said the fan.

This fan went ahead to take people back in time to a moment when Federer was quick to claim Djokovic as the potential winner of Wimbledon. However, as the final unfolded, it was Carlos Alcaraz who secured the coveted title. Suggesting this, the fan claimed that it could be yet another jinx from the former Swiss player.

This fan did not hide his anger, citing Novak Djokovic to be an impeccable force and irrespective of his age, he would go down to clinch multiple records to his name. The fan also went ahead to make an astonishing claim about Federer, citing that he did not want the Serbian to surpass his record.

This fan went ahead to state the same sentiment that many expressed. He claimed that Roger’s comments have now jinxed Novak and his chances of winning are slightly low. “Bro wants to jinx him,” mentioned the fan in his tweet.

Last, but not least, this fan went ahead to take the matter beyond tennis, citing that what Roger Federer did was done multiple times by former F1 driver Nico Rosberg. In multiple statements, Nico favored his teammate Lewis Hamilton to win the race. However, every time he made the comments, the exact opposite happened. “Roger just pulled a Nico Rosberg on ND,” mentioned the fan.

Thus, these comments by the fans mention their pure frustration as they believe that the statement made by Federer could prove to be deadly for the Serbian. However, whether it is true or false, only time will reveal it. What are your views on it? Do let us know in the comments below!
