Roger Federer bid farewell to professional tennis after 24 years of giving it all on the court. And bidding farewell was difficult not just for him and his fans but also for his arch-rivals. Rafael Nadal did not hide his emotions and let himself break down at Federer’s farewell. When asked about his own retirement, however, he did not provide any conclusive answer.

But that does not mean that he did not think of it. He made it clear that the player wants to focus on his healthy personal and professional life for now.

Is Rafael Nadal going to retire soon after bidding farewell to Roger Federer?

Rafael Nadal has had an astounding run in the year 2022 but he has also faced a lot of injuries along with it. So, the success has come, but he has had to push himself despite facing various injuries. That has not made the player consider retirement, as of now.

He said, “I don’t know, I’m not at that moment yet.” However, that does not mean that he had not considered it at all. He said, “During Roland Garros, I thought that it might be my last tournament, this is the reality.”

Following that, he suffered a serious abdominal injury at Wimbledon because of which he withdrew from the semi-finals against Nick Kyrgios. He said, “Although from then on everything went very bad physically, I broke my abdominal twice, at Wimbledon and in New York.”

What is Nadal’s priority for now?

The Spaniard has been stressed out because of his wife’s upcoming childbirth in a few weeks. He had expressed that this is a different kind of pressure from his professional life and he wants to focus on dealing with it. He said, “It has been an accumulation of important misfortunes, added to all these personal things.”

He has set his intentions clear as to how he wants things to be. He said, “Today, what I want is to get back to normality, for everything to go well with my personal life, which is the top priority. Have peace of mind in my personal and professional life.”
