5 Interesting things about Dominic Thiem

Dominic Thiem is presently rehabilitating from his wrist injury and hopes to return for the 2022 season. Recently, he disclosed five interesting things about him through a TikTok video. For the starter, he said,” I’m a Chelsea fan”. This was not a big surprise, as he has many times expressed his support for the English Club. He continued,” I have (chicken) at home and eat their (egg)”.

He then uncovered his guilty pleasure,” Guilty pleasure ONE DIRECTION/BTS”. After his title win at US Open 2021, Thiem had admitted that he loves One Direction. “I started with double-handed backhand,” he added further, though he has already spoken about this in the past.

Lastly, he concluded,” Life is better without THIS (pointing towards his injury)”. Since his Mallorca Open, he hasn’t played any professional matches, but he has shared some development regarding his injury.

Thiem’s injury update

Dominic Thiem suffered a major wrist injury at Mallorca Open in June. Since then, the Austrian hasn’t competed in professional matches. Just days ahead of US Open 2021, Thiem announced that he’ll miss the US Open as well as the rest of the season.

He stated, “Unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from the US Open and will miss the rest of the 2021 season. I’m really disappointed not to be able to defend the title in New York but I haven’t recovered from the wrist injury I suffered back in June at the Mallorca Open.”

However, recently, the Austrian has released some positive news regarding his wrist injury. He said he won’t be needing any further surgery and hopes to return for full-fledged training in the month of November.
