Former World No.1 Andy Murray is making the most of his time on the ATP tour by participating in consecutive tournaments. Various organizers have offered wild-cards for the Brit to play their events. Having shown significant improvement in the latter half of the 2021 season, Murray is aiming to continue the same form this year as well.

The two-time Wimbledon champion started this year on a great note by reaching the finals at Sydney International, where he lost to Russian player Aslan Karatsev. But the Australian Open wasn’t fruitful for the Brit as he was ousted in the second round by youngster Taro Daniel.

Andy Murray granted a wild-card entry into Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships

However, Murray wishes to partake in as many events as he can in order to get enough match practice under his belt. It will also improve Murray’s chances of going deep in tournaments. Currently, the Brit is playing the ATP 500 event in Rotterdam, where he takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime in the round of 16.

As expected, Murray has received a wild-card for the ATP 500 event in Dubai, organizers confirmed few hours ago.

Considering the way Murray has been intensely fighting against youngsters in each and every tournament, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis championships could well become the tournament for the Brit to prove his versatility.

Murray won the Dubai Open back in 2017, when he was the no.1 ranked player on tour and it remained his only title for the season. This year, Murray can expect tougher opponents right from the first round as several top players are planning to start their campaign with Dubai.
