Tennis fans live for the drama! Be it on the court or in the personal lives of their favorite players, tennis fans just cannot wait to get in on the fiesty debacles. And with social media helping people directly communicate with their beloved players, fans have quite a treat indulging in some spicy throwbacks. Recently, Mardy Fish took to Twitter to rekindle one such dramatic match that was played between him and Roger Federer at the Indian Wells Masters in 2008.

Fish took a smart dig at Roger Federer, teasing him to translate a tweet for him that literally reported the win that day. While Roger himself has not commented on the tweet yet, tennis enthusiasts are not going to let the ball drop. They have flooded the comment section and the tweet has gone viral within hours of posting it. Fish himself indulged in playful banter with some of the fans in the comments.

Mardy Fish teases the Swiss Maestro Roger Federer over a 15-year-old defeat
Fish reposted a tweet that was dedicated to the memory of his big win 15 years ago. The post is in Spanish and Fish claimed he couldn’t read the language. Hence he tags Federer in a repost and asks him, “@rogerfederer Can you translate this? I don’t speak Spanish. #Thanks!”

Soon enough, fans realized how he was teasing Federer and they swarmed the comments section praising his wit and his performance that day. One fan literally translated the whole tweet for him but Fish took it all in good humor.

Other fans have played on mischief and asked Roger Federer to purposely do a translation. A fan in particular commented with a witty wordplay referring to Federer’s sportswear brand “On”, which has recently signed Ben Shelton and Iga Swiatek.
