Recently, as the world number 2 ranked tennis player defeated his countryman to make his place in the third round of the tournament, he received appreciation from Murray. The 36-year-old British tennis player took to his Twitter account to share his take on witnessing the young Spaniard in the second round of the tournament.

He wrote, “Watching Alcaraz play tennis makes me smile.” After the tweet, during the post-match press conference, the two-time Grand Slam champion replied to Murray’s happy comment. Alcaraz stated, “For me, it’s pretty cool. I think for me it’s even better if a legend like Andy say something like this, that he enjoy a lot watching my matches. It’s crazy for me, honestly. I think he has seen a lot of tennis during his career, a lot of matches, a lot of players. See these words from him for me is great. It’s something I try to do it in every match.”

Further, he also explained how there are times when he plays for himself or his team, but at the same time, he also adores it when people around him enjoy watching his matches. But do you know that this is not the first time Murray has talked about Alcaraz? Last year, he also highlighted which part he enjoys the most while watching his game.

Murray details Alcaraz’s game that intrigues him the most

While many are in awe of the two-time Grand Slam champion’s forehead, for Murray, it’s something else. Last year, in an interview with the ATP Tour, he opened up about watching Alcaraz play and praised him regarding his athletic talent.

He stated, “The thing that I love about watching him is just the freedom that he plays with and part of that is youth I think. I just hope he doesn’t lose that. That’s the one thing I would love to just see him continue to play that sort of style of tennis that he plays with. The drop shots or serve-volleys.”

Not only that, Murray was present at Centre Court for last year’s Wimbledon final, where he saw the intense match between Novak Djokovic and Alcaraz, with the Spaniard taking the crown.
