It looks like injuries are spreading like wildfire in the Spanish camp. While Rafael Nadal had been sidelined for a major part this year, Carlos Alcaraz also came back from an injury at the Madrid Open. However, the Spanish sensation has another unfortunate news following his disappointing exit in Madrid.

After losing against Andrey Rublev, Alcaraz had a meeting with his team members. In that meeting, he explained how he felt sensations in his right arm while playing in the tournament. For those unknown, Alcaraz suffered a right forearm injury earlier this year which kept him on the sidelines for a few tournaments. However, with the latest setback, Alcaraz’s French Open hopes have been thrown into jeopardy.

Further, as reported by Marca, Alcaraz will undergo tests to determine the extent of his latest physical setback. His French Open hopes will rest on the results from these tests as any potential negative result will leave him on the sidelines. Nonetheless, Alcaraz is a fighter like his idol, Nadal, and will return to training later this week.

Things were looking bleak for Alcaraz as far as his physical nature was concerned during the Madrid Open. He even had an emotional breakdown during his match against Rublev due to sensations in his right arm.

French Open apart, Alcaraz’s injury concerns of late have also put Rafael Nadal’s Olympics dream in jeopardy. The Spanish legend was hoping to team up with Alcaraz in the doubles event and play a few warm-up tournaments before the big event. However, Alcaraz revealed a saddening update in this regard.

Will Carlos Alcaraz team up with Rafael Nadal?

Earlier this week, the Spanish sensation, Alcaraz, was asked if he aimed to participate in doubles with Nadal at the French Open. However, his right arm injury hasn’t healed completely and thus, has limited his time on the court. Thus, playing in both singles as well as doubles will be a long shot for Alcaraz.

Talking about this, he said, “We talked a little about that, that it would be great to play a tournament before the Olympic Games, but it’s going to be difficult. On land the next tournament will be Rome and then Roland Garros. Both tournaments are really important. We are in singles and we are not going to arrive in the best physical condition. So it will be difficult to play a tournament before the Games.”

This will be Nadal’s last appearance at the Olympics and a final chance for Alcaraz to team up with his idol on the sport’s biggest stage. Thus, he will give his all in order to return to full fitness before the sporting extravaganza in Paris.
