Carlos Alcaraz is currently keeping himself on the sidelines because of an injury. The rising star incurred a painful situation while he was preparing for the Monte Carlo Masters and therefore had to call off his participation in the tournament. While everyone eagerly awaited his comeback in the European clay court season, mixed signals recently showed up to confuse fans.

After his withdrawal from Barcelona, there was enough confusion in the air about Alcaraz’s recovery status. However, the ATP star is done with delaying his plans to land in Madrid and therefore was recently spotted practicing on the courts. According to the updates, Alcaraz stepped in for his first training session on the clay court in order to test his current levels.

The fact that he stepped into the court doesn’t really seem to be all good news. Delving into details about his sightings, the tennis star appeared to be carefully dealing with his arm. The reports that informed fans about the hour practice session of the Spaniard also mentioned the fact that he made this attempt with precautions.

Throughout the session, the Spaniard made sure to not put extensive pressure on his hand, in order to avoid any further issues. Carlos Alcaraz is looking forward to starting his clay court journey for the season after missing out on the Monte Carlo Masters and the Barcelona Open. If he manages to overcome the injury scare, he will have to start his defense of the title against either Alexander Shevchenko or Arthur Rinderknech. If he makes it through, Lorenzo Musetti waits for him in the third round. Soon after that, Jan-Lennard Struff, who lost to Alcaraz last year in Madrid, could be his fourth-round opponent.

Even if he manages to surpass these challenges, he might face Holger Rune or Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals. Rune’s first match is against Mariano Navone or Alexei Popyrin, while Rublev is set to face Daniel Evans or someone who made it through qualifiers. As an alarming path awaits Alcarz’s entry, his fate in the clay court season is yet to be determined.
