Tennis off-season is upon us and this is the best time to look back at the highlights of the season. Recently Russian tennis legend Nikolai Davydenko sat down for an interview to reflect on the young tennis stars who played important tournaments this year. And to say the least, he is not impressed with anyone.
The tennis legend made it very clear in the interview that finds the young generation very inadequate and even compared them to the generations before them in the ATP men’s tour. As much as tennis fans may have enjoyed the primary tournaments of the year, Davydenko’s interview might force them to change their perspective.

He shared, “So far, I can’t say that anyone particularly captivated me. In our time, of course, there was something to see. Now there is more physical activity: all the guys are more striking, powerful, and execute serves. There is nothing to conquer. If you are powerful, you will hit if you are tall, you will serve. So, I can’t yet say: “Wow, this is super technique, what moves!” I didn’t see anything supernatural.”

As the interview progressed, Davydenko shared that Jannik Sinner only won because of his hard work and willpower. But that is not enough. If he wants to make it through the entire season like Novak Djokovic, he has got to have that psychology like the Serbian has. Only hard work is not enough, he needs to have the right techniques as well.
