Talk about soaking in the sweet success of victory, and Carlos Alcaraz knows exactly how to do it. The Spaniard is on cloud nine after winning his sixth Grand Slam title overall at the recently concluded US Open. Soon after his success at Flushing Meadows, the Spaniard had a gala time and partied to enjoy his victory. Nonetheless, Alcaraz will be back in action soon as a massive update dropped about his upcoming schedule.

The next big tournament after the US Open is the Laver Cup, scheduled in San Francisco next week. While there were initially some doubts whether Alcaraz would play in the event, Olly Tennis has confirmed the Spaniard’s participation in the tournament. He is set to travel there with Samuel López, who will be his coach for the tournament instead of Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Interestingly, while a major part of the season has been done and dusted, the remainder of the season holds much value for Alcaraz. He is just 760 points ahead of the second-placed Sinner and would have to be at his best to end the year as the top-ranked player. After the Laver Cup, Alcaraz is also set to play at the Tokyo Open from September 24 and the Shanghai Masters from October 1, 2025. Meanwhile, Sinner has a greater number of points to defend in this part of the season, meaning the task for Alcaraz to defend his top spot won’t be that tough.

Beginning his preparations for the upcoming part of the season, Alcaraz is set to be involved in a lengthy training session on Saturday. This will mark the first time that Carlos Alcaraz will be taking the court after his US Open triumph. He will spearhead Team Europe’s title defense at the Laver Cup and would look to replicate his performance from the previous edition, where he secured the winning points.

However, there is still work to do for Alcaraz. Despite winning the title in New York, he made a surprising assessment of his performances.

Carlos Alcaraz has addressed some concerns about his playing level

Throughout the US Open, Alcaraz dominated his opponents and lost just one set, that too in the final against Sinner. However, the toughest of the encounters was against Novak Djokovic in the semifinal. Although Alcaraz won that match in straight sets, it was much closer than it looked. Even the Spaniard admitted that he wasn’t at the level he would’ve liked.

Alcaraz mentioned, “It wasn’t the best level of the tournament for me, but I just kept a good level since the beginning to the last point. I served pretty well. Today I think it was really, really important. Being there, trying to play a really physical match. I think I did it. In general, I played really good tennis. Just really happy to play my 2nd final here at US Open.”

Nonetheless, the level was enough for Alcaraz to defeat Djokovic and progress through to the final. After a much-needed rest, Alcaraz will be rearing to go at the upcoming Laver Cup. It’ll be interesting to see if he can guide Team Europe to success yet again this year.
