As the 2023 season came to an end, the tennis world stood with several names that showed a rapid rise in performance. Among those, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner were the two players who moved ahead with high expectations from fans. While Alcaraz somehow went off track and failed to hit the targets that the fans predicted for him, Sinner ended up hitting great milestones.

While the tennis community was still not over from celebrating Sinner’s amazing performance in Melbourne in January 2024, he continued with the same enthusiasm to prove his levels in Rotterdam as well. Just a few days after his victory, Alcaraz recently revealed what it would take to surpass the Italian now.

Carlos Alcaraz spoke highly of the Italian’s potential in a recent interview, praising Jannik Sinner for his outstanding performance on the court. Speaking about Sinner’s dominant form because of which he has built a massive 15-match consistent win streak, Alcaraz mentioned, “Jannik is having a very good moment. His level of tennis shows the confidence he has.” He highlighted Sinner’s hard work and expressed admiration for his achievements.

Along with that, Alcaraz surprisingly acknowledged the difficulty of facing Sinner, stating, “To beat him you have to play at a stratospheric level.” This highlights the thoughts that Sinner’s current competitors carry after he proved his worth in recent tournaments.

Despite being a competitor, Alcaraz remained optimistic and viewed Sinner’s success as an opportunity for personal growth. He added, “I am happy for him because he is a very good person and the fact that he is at this point helps me to improve and get the best out of me.” This positive attitude reflected the spirit of sportsmanship along with admitting the new state of ATP’s future.

It isn’t just Carlos Alcaraz who admits to the high potential that Jannik Sinner bears. Alcaraz’s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero also highlighted the situation that has been created among the imaginary triangle between Sinner, Alcaraz, and Djokovic.

In an interview with La Nacion, he said, “I think his (Jannik Sinner’s) appearance was a bit like when Rafa and Roger appeared, who between them were pushing the car, until then Novak came in, who is now a bit the one pushing Carlos and Sinner.”

As both Alcaraz and his coach are aware of the force that Sinner is, it now becomes a challenge for the Spanish tennis star to build himself with the toughest drills possible. As the rivalry continues, Alcaraz’s admission adds a touch of humbleness to the story.
