He recently announced that he will donate all his earnings from the remainder of the season to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

Former champion Billie Jean King applauded this effort by posting about it on her Twitter account. In addition, King also acknowledged how Murray is always ready to extend a helping hand.

Andy Murray comes out to support children
The former World No.1 is a UNICEF Ambassador, and recently announced his decision on his social media platforms.

“Over 7.5 million children are at risk with the escalating conflict in Ukraine, so I’m working with Unicef to help provide urgent medical supplies and early childhood development kits,” Murray said. “It’s vital [that] education continues, so Unicef is working to enable access to learning for displaced children, as well as supporting the rehabilitation of damaged schools, together with replacement equipment and furniture.

Promising to donate his earnings from his prize money, he also urged people from the UK to do the same. “Children in Ukraine need peace — now,” he added.

The three-time Major champion will lock horns against Taro Daniel in his opening round in the Californian desert. Murray lost to the Japanese player in straight sets at the Australian Open 2022, before beating him at the Qatar Open.
