Andy Murray has not only been a great champion but also has been quite active and vocal about pressing issues. His witty quips, in his press conferences, have endeared fans a lot. Given the current geopolitical scenario, like many other starts, Murray has also spoken about extending his support.

He recently announced that he will donate all his earnings from the remainder of the season to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

Former champion Billie Jean King applauded this effort by posting about it on her Twitter account.  In addition, King also acknowledged how Murray is always ready to extend a helping hand.

“This is what a champion of the highest order looks like. Andy Murray is donating all his prize money for rest of the year to help children in Ukraine. Thank you, ⁦@andy_murray⁩, for always speaking up and helping those who need it most,” she captioned the post where she shared an article about the magnanimity of the Brit.

The former World No.1 is a UNICEF Ambassador, and recently announced his decision on his social media platforms.

“Over 7.5 million children are at risk with the escalating conflict in Ukraine, so I’m working with Unicef to help provide urgent medical supplies and early childhood development kits,” Murray said. “It’s vital [that] education continues, so Unicef is working to enable access to learning for displaced children, as well as supporting the rehabilitation of damaged schools, together with replacement equipment and furniture.

Promising to donate his earnings from his prize money, he also urged people from the UK to do the same.  “Children in Ukraine need peace — now,” he added.

Andy Murray currently is preparing for his upcoming match at the Indian Wells Masters. The three-time Major champion will lock horns against  Taro Daniel in his opening round in the Californian desert. Murray lost to the Japanese player in straight sets at the Australian Open 2022, before beating him at the Qatar Open.
