Novak Djokovic has been the talking point in tennis lately. Earlier this month, he scripted a magnificent display to win his 21st Grand Slam title. The Serb defeated Nick Kyrgios in the summit clash of the Wimbledon Championships to overtake Federer’s tally of 20 major titles. The win came at just the right moment for Djokovic, who was struggling with poor form and off-court controversies earlier this season.

However, the former World Number 1 has received a major blow after winning the grass-court Grand Slam title. Earlier this week, the US Open released a statement that all but ruled out Djokovic’s participation in the last Grand Slam tournament of the season. The statement prompted reactions from the entire tennis fraternity. Additionally, other sporting superstars also reacted to Djokovic missing the US Open. Recently, an NFL athlete, Chris Manno, also reacted to this grim news.
Chris Manno on Djokovic’s US Open ban
Manno took to Twitter to react to the news of the possible ban on Djokovic’s US Open participation. He said, “These close minded dummies at the @usopen fail to realize they delegitimize their own tournament, leaving the “winner” to look like a place holder champion when they prohibit a top contender in @DjokerNole from competing. Let them eat themselves.”

Earlier, Canada’s health minister also confirmed that Covid-19 protocols applied to everyone, meaning Djokovic will also potentially miss the Canadian Open. It comes as a huge blow to the Serb, who was already on the downtrend in the ATP rankings.

However, he was set to defend 1200 ranking points at the US Open this year, after finishing second-best last season. If he misses the US Open, Djokovic will potentially drop out of the top 10 of the ATP rankings.
