Over the past month or so, there has been an uncertainty regarding the participation of Novak Djokovic at the 2022 Australian Open. The doubts only grew further when the world no.1 decided to not talk about his decision publicly.
At the ATP Finals and also at the Davis Cup, Djokovic evaded any questions about his journey to Australia for tennis summer. Now, in a thrilling news for fans, Djokovic’s name was present in the list of players participating at the ATP Cup in Sydney ahead of the ‘happy slam’.

While this looks like a big news on paper as it almost confirms Djokovic’s participation in Melbourne, the Serbian star is yet to make the news official.
Todd Wooodbridge believes that Novak Djokovic will play the 2022 Australian Open
However, former Australian doubles player Todd Woodbridge was excited about the fact that the Serb would be there to defend his Australian Open crown.
“He had the choice to enter or not enter so he’s put his name on the entry list and that means you’ve got to believe that he’s coming all the way through the summer. That’s good for tennis, for Novak fans they’ll be rejoicing, and I think also for the Sydney fans”, Woodbridge said.

Along with Djokovic, top stars like Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and Dominic Thiem will also represent their respective nations at the ATP cup.
With his name in the list, the Serb has almost confirmed his presence in Australia next January but fans are still apprehensive as he is yet to reveal the details of his journey.

Djokovic achieved history on tour this year
The world no.1 had a phenomenal year on tour as he won three Grand Slam titles along and also clinched the year-end no.1 ranking for a record seventh time in his career. With each passing year, the Serbian star is finding new highs as he is now ahead of Nadal and Federer in terms of winning more slams.

However, the Spaniard is looking forward for an eventual Australian Open next year. As part of his 2022 preparation, Nadal will take part in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship from the 16th of this month.

If he is deemed physically fit, Nadal will give a tough fight to not just Djokovic but also to youngsters such as Tsitsipas, Medvedev, and Rublev. The 2022 Australian tennis summer is all set to launch on a grand scale with players scheduled to arrive from the last week of this month.
