Nick Kyrgios finds himself entangled in the John McEnroe-BBC drama

The Australian tennis star is usually the center of attraction of every match whenever he plays. His unfiltered outbursts and rants make his matches entertaining.

Recently, it was disclosed that John McEnroe, seven-time Grand Slam champion and tennis veteran, was paid $260,000 by BBC for his commentary gig. That is not it because other TV channels also paid him during the Wimbledon fortnight.

But this did not let the crossfire die down as he got a gloomy reply. The user stated, “You got ?1,050,000 for runner up…… I’m not sure BBC budget would stretch to that!!!!” The whopping $1.4 million reward seems a bit less to Kyrgios than the $260,000 of McEnroe.

The approximate amount of $260,000 has drawn unwanted criticism for the American tennis veteran. This includes an open mockery by Nick Kyrgios, which is surely getting backfired. But even then, the BBC has come to the rescue of John McEnroe.

BBC backs up John McEnroe amongst growing backlash

The American tennis legend has yet to release his statement about the prevailing headlines about his Wimbledon gig by BBC. Meanwhile, BBC has already sided with the seven-time Grand Slam champion.

“He is one of the most popular and respected pundits in tennis, and he provides a unique perspective to our coverage,” an insider told The Times.

The current payment for McEnroe sees a 10% hike from his last gig. Though the BBC did not hire him to do the commentary for the men’s finals, he was there for the women’s finals at Wimbledon. His contribution has made BBC take his back.
