Nishikori shared the exciting news on his Instagram. The pair claimed to have held a wedding reception early in the morning in front of a select number of their close friends and relatives.

Nishikori revealed that he had registered his marriage to Mai Yamauchi in 2020. Due to the pandemic, they couldn’t hold their wedding ceremonies. The Japanese ace informed his followers that they finally got to hold the ceremony yesterday. Yamauchi has accompanied Nishikori to Grand Slam and tour events since they began dating five years ago. Nishikori shared an emotional message with his Insta followers.

Nishikori made history at the 2014 U.S. Open by becoming the first Japanese player to compete in a Grand Slam final. Two years later, he took home a bronze medal in men’s singles at the Olympics. Nishikori proved he belonged on the tennis scene with convincing performances at Wimbledon and the 2014 Madrid Masters. Nishikori shared a note in his Insta caption in Japanese, which was translated. He said,?“Hello. I have a report for you all. On December 24th, I held a wedding ceremony and reception with my wife, Mai. I couldn’t hold it for a long time due to the corona misfortune.”?

He had a top-5 singles ranking and is the only male Japanese player to do so throughout the Open Era. Nishikori became the first player to reach the top of the singles rankings.

He became the first Asian man to reach the ATP finals and has 12 singles titles to his name. Nishikori also added, ” Thank you so much for celebrating with so many people..”
