Suffering a quarterfinal loss to Rafael Nadal, Djokovic not only lost his French Open crown to the now 14-time champion, but also the top spot in the ATP rankings.
In the updated rankings released today, i.e. 13th of June by the ATP, Djokovic suffered a drop of 2000 points from his ranking tally. The Serbian, who was previously on 8770 points, is now left with 6770 points.
Djokovic’s loss of points has given Daniil Medvedev the opportunity to become the new World No. 1. Prior to this, Medvedev became the World No. 1 for the first time towards the end of February this year. Medvedev, who previously held the top spot for three weeks, will now enter his fourth week as the World No. 1.

Following ATP’s announcement to strip ranking points from this year’s Wimbledon, Djokovic is set to lose another 2000 points even if he wins the tournament. After the tournament, he will probably have just 4770 points, pushing him down to the 7th spot, his worst ranking since 2018.
