What is the next big goal of the World No.4 Daniil Medvedev? Is it to win a Grand Slam or to become the World No.1? Fans are really excited to see Medvedev’s future performances after his recent triumph at the Rolex Paris Masters 2020 and at the ATP Finals 2020.

The Russian recently talked about his next aim of becoming the World No.1 in ATP rankings. However, he acknowledged that it would be a mammoth task with the presence of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer around him.

He admitted that it would be tough but still believed that it was achievable provided he worked really hard.

“It’s still a long way to get to the top of the line [in the ATP World Rankings]. However, it will be more complicated to achieve this aim with Rafa, Roger, and Novak still locking horns on the courts, but I will try to do my best,” told Medvedev in a recent interview.

Medvedev ended his 2020 tennis season with 8,470 points at 4th place. On the other hand, Djokovic and Nadal are way ahead of him with 12,030 and 9,850 points, respectively. The Russian clearly knows that has to perform much more consistently in order to match their levels.

“It all depends on me”- Daniil Medvedev

While predicting his chances, Medvedev also pointed out the uncertainties in rankings due to the present system. He said that sometimes just 8000 points were enough while the other times even 12000 points could not guarantee a No.1 spot.

“You have to complete the season better than all the rest to become the World’s No. 1 and sometimes 8,000 points can be sufficient but on other occasions, 12,000 points are not enough,” added Medvedev.

Although Medvedev believed that it was a tough task to beat Djokovic and Nadal in the rankings, he was confident that he could do it if he managed to play the way he did at the ATP Finals 2020.

“It all depends on me. The more tournaments that I’ll have like in Paris and London, the more chances I’ll get to the top of the ATP rankings,” concluded the Russian player.
