The finals of the Davis Cup have begun, and players of all countries are giving their best to ensure that their team advances forward. As the players are looking to make their nation proud, only one will prevail. The current bout between Italy and the Netherlands is getting more exciting as both teams are tied at 1-1. After an early loss, the 22-year-old Jannik Sinner revived team Italy by defeating Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets. 

The line-ups of both teams are great, but Italy is suffering from the absence of one of its star players. Matteo Berrettini announced his withdrawal from the Cup for the finals, which drew much criticism from Italian news outlets. However, team Italy is still fighting strong without him.

Italy was drawn in the group stages along with Canada, Chile, and Sweden. They lost against Canada without being able to win a single bout. After their loss, they played with an aggressive mindset against Chile and won their bout without losing a single match. Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Musetti sealed the singles bouts, while Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego helped win the doubles match.

They had their hands full when they faced Sweden. However, they managed to win the first two singles bout to ensure that they would move on to the knockout stages of the tournament. As they prepared to face the Dutch, their team comprised Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, Lorenzo Sonego, and Simone Bolelli.

The Netherlands did not have an easy time coming into the knockout stages. A loss in the first-round match against Finland made their future bleak. But they managed to pull through in the second singles bout, and the doubles match. They then went to face the United States, where they were able to seal the victory in the first two rounds.

Their last match was against Croatia, and both teams had an intense battle. The Netherlands won the first bout, and Croatia equalized in the second. They kept their momentum rolling to win the doubles bout, too. However, the Dutch country had done enough to move on to the knockout stages. Their team comprises Tallon Griekspoor, Botic Van De Zandschulp, Gijs Brouwer, and Wesley Koolhof.

Prediction: Italy has a higher chance of playing in the semifinal

The Italian team comprises a stronger squad in the singles lineup. Jannik Sinner has had a shining year, and he is dedicated to his country’s attempt to win the Cup after 47 years. His sheer dominance in the match against Tallon Griekspoor has surely given him fantastic momentum. The Italian won with a score of 7-6(3), 6-1.
