The Davis Cup is one of the biggest international tennis events in the world, and the season’s finals have been ongoing since early September, with the top 16 teams in the world playing for the opportunity to triumph in the prestigious tournament. Once again, the stage is set for an emphatic showdown, as Team Serbia will be taking on Team Italy in the semi-finals of the Davis Cup on November 25.

The next Davis Cup semi-final round is to be held on the indoor hardcourt of Martin Carpena Arena in Malaga, Spain. The Serbian side, led by the mighty Novak Djokovic, will be looking to give everything in one of the most important rounds. However, the Italian side, featuring the likes of Jannik Sinner, will also present some tough competition to Novak’s side. That being said, which team looks more favorable to win the tie and make their way into the finals of the tournament?

On one hand, coming into the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Team Serbia faced the Great Britain team. In the opening match of the tie, Jack Draper and Miomir Kecmanovic fronted off against each other, with the latter tiptoeing past in two tight sets with a 7-6(2), 7-6(6) win. In an evenly tight contest, it was the Englishman landing his hands on victory.

In the second singles match, Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie battled against each other. However, the former stood tall in front of Norrie and defeated him in straight sets, making the final scoreline of the match 6-4, 6-4, in favor of Djokovic. With the Serbs winning both singles ties, the need to contest for doubles was nullified.

Prediction: Serbia could make their way into the finals of the Davis Cup

There’s no question Djokovic is the greatest tennis player of all time. He has the most impressive stats and tennis records and is still at the top of his game. However, both the Italian side and the Serbian side look very strong on paper. While the Italian side has upcoming sensation Janni Sinner, the Serbian side has experienced master Novak Djokovic. The experience these two bring makes them the center of attention, and their face-off could be a decisive factor.

Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner will be engaging in their third duel this month. They faced twice in last week’s ATP Finals. While the Italian player was better in the group stage, Djokovic defeated him in the final to win the title. Both are in great form but a lot depends on them as the rest of the Italian and Serbian squad seem evenly matched.

The Serbian side seems to be in a favorable spot to win because of Djokovic. However, one thing is for sure: the Italians won’t go down without a fight.

One take at a time

In a world where player rivalries dominate social media conversations, I am someone who prefers to enjoy the skills showcased on the court rather than be involved in feuds over the greatness of players. Right from my early childhood, I have been engrossed by the legendary rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It turned me into a ‘Fedal’ fan and eventually, when I graduated from college, this fandom created an interest in covering their exploits on the court.
