The debate about the gender pay gap in sports has become an important topic in the last two decades. The discussion has drawn in many supporters and critics in equal measure. Tennis is no different in this scenario. Over the last two decades, the sport has strived to make the prize money equal between the ATP and the WTA. However, Nick Kyrgios is not a fan of the goal. To solidify his opinion, he shared an old clip of Rafael Nadal in which he can be seen expressing a similar point to the Australian.
Kyrgios, the controversial Aussie player, has often been the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons. His recent comment concerning the gender pay gap came in reference to the amount of prize money received by Markéta Vondroušová over Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon.

The Aussie bad boy is one player who is not shy or reserved about his thoughts. Outspoken about several debates related to tennis, the controversial player from the land Down Under has stated another point to his argument against equal pay in the WTA and the ATP. On his Instagram story, he shared a video of Rafa, who doesn’t clearly answer when a reporter asks him about the pay gap in tennis.
To answer the question posed, the King of Clay says, “Well, I don’t know. I don’t know what it is based on in soccer or golf or modeling. I don’t know. Why do women earn more than men in the fashion industry? Well, I don’t know. But then again, we don’t talk all day long about salary difference.”
