However, he issued a heartbreaking update on his future in the sport.

The 28-year-old revealed that he’s still not ready to make a comeback at the Australian Open next year and will have to miss his home Grand Slam tournament. As a result, question marks have popped up about his future, which he addressed recently.

Nick Kyrgios makes a candid revelation

After announcing his Australian Open withdrawal, Kyrgios was involved in the ‘On Purpose with Jay Shetty’ podcast. During the show, the Australian star talked about various subjects like how to deal with being misunderstood. Further, he also went on to assess his future in tennis.

Talking about this, he said, “I feel like I’m very content with my life that I have more than enough to enjoy. And so if it was up to me, I probably wouldn’t, I don’t really want to play anymore, to be honest. But I have to almost.. I’ve got so much more to give. But for me, I’m not playing anymore.”

Further, Kyrgios was asked if it wasn’t his way of taking pressure to which he replied, “No, it’s not. It’s like I’m exhausted, I’m tired. And, you know, I have had three surgeries now and I’m only 28 years old, I always wanted to be able to have a family and not be in pain. When I get up. I can’t walk without pain. So it’s it’s a tough gig.”

After being sidelined for months due to injuries, Kyrgios was hoping to get fit in time for the 2024 Australian Open. However, he hasn’t recovered completely yet and his injuries will take more time to heal than expected. As a result, he delivered a heartbreaking Australian Open update.

What did Kyrgios say about his Australian Open withdrawal?

A few days back, Kyrgios’ fans were dealt a major blow after their hero announced his withdrawal from the Grand Slam Down Under. The Australian star still has persistent wrist issues that have forced him to miss the early part of the next year.

Announcing his withdrawal, Kyrgios said, “This is a very disappointing time for me…I just want to really get back to playing at the top of my game and doing it right and I need a little bit more time.”

Nonetheless, Kyrgios will look to get over his disappointment and make a strong comeback later next year. Although he hasn’t revealed his return date yet, Kyrgios will be eager to make a comeback as soon as possible.
