Novak Djokovic is out of the Australian Open. After 2196 days, he has been beaten in the Aussie slam by an ATP young gun. Out of the first slam of the year, the Djoker will mentally deal with the loss. Sitting down after his defeat to talk to the press, reporters asked him about who he believes to be the favorite in Paris next.

While he would like to share his name, he admitted Rafael Nadal to be the biggest favorite. He will look at the next tournament, and his only aim will be to increase his grand slam tally further, but he believes it will be a difficult task.

Novak Djokovic declares Rafael Nadal the favorite for Roland Garros, as usual

As the Serbinator fought a hard battle, he found himself despondent. The defeat against Sinner will live large in his mind for a while to come, but he will recover from the loss. During the post-match presser, Djokovic was asked about his favorite for the French Open. For him, the answer was not obvious, but he picked the 22-time grand slam champion as the favorite.

But of course, you know, if Nadal is playing, he’s always a favorite there, No. 1, no doubt. Regardless of the fact that he hasn’t played much, but he is who he is in Roland Garros. Of course Alcaraz, Sinner. Anybody that is on the top, you know. I think rankings-wise you can take the first five, ten players in the world, and everyone is a favorite to win.”

The Djoker believes that Rafa, aka the King of Clay, has the best chance and then the following players in the top 10. While he shared his favorites, he believes it depends on a lot of conditions.

Djokovic says the Roland Garros favorite has many conditions in the way

When asked about his favorite for the second slam, he initially said, “That’s really far away. Let’s see how, you know, how the players play in the next several months, particularly on the clay, in the clay season. It’s completely different surface, conditions. Some players, you know, are probably more favorites than others on clay, you know, just because it’s kind of a surface that suits certain type of tennis players.”
