Recently, a tragedy took place due to the tensions, which resulted in lives lost. Djokovic shared the news of the event on his Instagram story, which is garnering much attention.

Novak Djokovic shares news of tragedy in Serbia
The Serbinator is active in political events taking place around the world. He has been following the news of tensions between Kosovo and Serbia since the situation began and stays updated. Recently, the tensions increased, and a conflict took place between police and gunmen, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries.

After the incident, Serbia declared 27th September as National Mourning Day for those who passed away during the incident. A memorial was held in the Temple of St. Sava in Belgrade for the souls who lost their lives. Djokovic shared a picture of the memorial on his Instagram story with a series of emojis that show him praying for those who passed away.

The 24-time grand slam champion is someone who shares all the news he gets of these incidents. He shared his first message at the French Open, which drew quite a bit of flak his way.
Djokovic under fire for comment on Serbia tension
Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia have taken place for quite a long time. Tensions rose this year, and the country was torn apart once again. The problems of the two regions affected Djokovic as well. Wanting to show his concern for his country, he wrote, “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia. Stop violence,” on the camera after his third-round victory.

His comment did not settle well with the public. Kosovo’s tennis federation did not take his words kindly and lashed out at him. Officials said that his words only served to raise the tension between Serbia and Kosovo. Djokovic is someone who has suffered due to the war himself during his childhood, and the tragedies only serve to remind him of past issues. However, he is doing his best to raise awareness of the matter as much as he can.
