Djokovic, who won his first-round bout, saw himself being defeated in an exciting bout. He had once called Sinner a future legend, and the Italian youngster is proving his words by handing him defeats.

Sinner and Djokovic’s bout was an exciting one as it went to three sets. Sinner won the first set at 7-5. The other two sets went to tie-break and the two players won one set each. The young Italian gun was all smiles after his win and as he sat down for the post-match presser, one could see his happiness.

After this Sinner, who won against Alcaraz earlier this year when he was number 1, talked about the difference in beating the two players: “Of course, you think about everything that has been. What has always guided me has been the goal of improvement. I have always woken up every morning with the goal of becoming the best version of myself. Now I’ve beaten the number one. I’ve already beaten Alcaraz when he was number one, but I see him differently, because we’re from the same generation.”

Sinner, who showed his skills to the 24-time grand slam champion, proved Djokovic’s words right when the Serbinator called him a leader of the next generation.

Djokovic hails Sinner as a great player of the future

The 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner faced off in the Wimbledon quarterfinal. Djokovic showed his dominance as he beat Sinner in straight sets. He reflected on the skills of his opponent after the match and called him a great player. Djokovic also said that he was one of the leaders of the next generation.
