While Andy Roddick was best known for his lightning-quick serves, he had his fair share of tantrums on the court as well. After drawing curtains on his playing days in 2012, the former World No.1 is still serving the game through his renowned foundation, named ‘Andy Roddick Foundation’. He joined the Tennis Channel commentary team in 2020, offering intriguing insights to the viewers and fans. He is also quite active on social media, thereby trying to be in touch with his fans.

Recently, he posted a hilarious video, referring to all the code violations some top players like Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios, and most recently Jenson Brooksby have been receiving due to their on-court tantrums. Many stars reacted to the video, including his wife, Brooklyn Decker, and former World No. 1, Kim Clijsters.
Andy Roddick teaches how to correctly throw a tantrum
Through the video, Roddick tries to offer an interesting angle in regards to throwing tantrums on court. “So, I’m going to save all the players a lot of drama and teach you how to throw racket without getting in trouble. For as many fits and as many tantrums as I threw, regrettably, during my career, I actually got one point penalty and that was the max, throughout my career, so digest that how you need to...” Roddick said, in the video. He then proceeded to show how to throw a racquet face down, instead of the sides to prevent it from breaking as well as bouncing and hurting someone.
Brooklyn Decker, who married Roddick back in 2009, retweeted the video. “Thrilled our kids will now know how to properly throw a tantrum,” she tweeted, jokingly. The couple has two children together, Hank and Stevie, born in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
Former tennis star, Kim Clijsters from Belgium, also replied to Decker’s retweet. Kim Clijsters, who is aiming for another comeback, at the age of 38, is quite active on social media. She promptly reacted to the hilarious video.

She politely enquired Roddick’s wife if she was the one who shot the video. Some fans reiterated that they were thinking exactly the same thing.

Roddick is one of the few former players to openly speak about the code violation instances that have been occurring in the recent past. We surely hope to witness comedy yet interesting content from the 2003 US Open winner in the years to follow.
